1995 Ranger R70... to ditch or buy?

My neighbor is offering me this 1995 Ranger R70, but I'm thinking if it's too old and probably falling apart? I did a quick look around and it still looks fine. I mean in general. But I'm thinking it's not worth $3k. Let me know what I need to check and would it be recommended I bring a mechanic with me so I don't get scammed?

If I were you, I'd bring a mechanic along. I once looked at a sweet deal on a boat only to find out later it was more patch than hull. For $3k make sure the engine runs smooth as butter and check for hidden rust or water damage before diving in headfirst. Good luck, bro!

Yeah, 3K sounds high for a '95 R70 unless it's super clean, you can check the transom, floor, and engine compression

yeah! bring a marine mechanic. For $3k on a 29yo boat, a pre purchase inspection is a small investment for peace of mind and could save you from costly repairs down the line. Expect to pay a few hundred dollars for a basic inspection in Vancouver. It's worth it to avoid potential scams or hidden issues

If you can bring a mechanic for a cheap price, do it. Its not so much the year its how its been maintained/cared for. I had an 89 Ranger a while back and overall it was in great shape for the age. So, dont let the age scare you if you like the boat but, if your not confident on inspecting yourself then try to bring someone who can help.

There are much older RANGER boats sold for much more money every day. I've owned several and with minimal but proper care they will literally last forever. $3k is a steal.
